AI Stewardship — the add-on
A positive result. A clinician with ten minutes.
Guidance is generated, then confirmed by a person. It is never auto-released.
The stewardship layer puts pathogen context and medication guidance on the report itself — type, disease caused, gram stain, symptoms, CDC severity class, and a recommendation narrative that a named clinician confirms before it prints. Priced per component, on top of the base report rate.
The lookup happens in another tab, under time pressure.
A positive Klebsiella pneumoniae lands in front of an ordering provider between two appointments. The report says what amplified and at what Ct — and then the provider opens a browser tab to check severity, agents and resistance caveats against whatever source loads first. Ten minutes was the whole budget. The result was on the report; the context was somewhere else.
Generated, then confirmed. Never auto-released.
The narrative is drafted by AI, and it goes nowhere on its own. A clinician reads it, regenerates it until it’s right, and confirms it when it is — and the confirmation is named, beside the liability disclaimer the product carries. You can defend that sequence to a medical director, because there is a person at the end of it.
Five components. Each one optional.
The toggles sit on the order itself, so stewardship is a per-order choice, and the invoice reads the way the order was placed.
- Pathogen Information
- Type, disease caused, gram stain, symptoms, and CDC severity class — on the report, beside the result that prompted it.
- Drug Recommendations
- The guidance table the ordering provider would otherwise assemble from a browser tab.
- Recommended Medications
- The medication table, printed with the result rather than implied by it.
- ABR
- Antibiotic-resistance context for the organisms and genes the run detected.
- Pharmacist Review
- A pharmacist’s pass over the guidance before the report carries it.
Take one component. Or five.
Each component prices independently, as a percentage uplift on the base report rate — not a bundle. A lab that only wants Pathogen Information pays for Pathogen Information, and a lab that sells the full guidance layer prices all five into its reports. That is why this page’s button says “Talk to us”: the arithmetic depends on which components your lab sells, and it deserves better than a slider.
It informs the report. It never makes the call.
Stewardship adds context to a result a person already called, on a report a person already approved — it sits inside the release sequence, never above it. Treatment stays the clinician’s decision; the software’s contribution is putting the context on the same page as the result.
It rides the report — see reports & templates →The release sequence it sits inside →
Talk to us about the components your lab would sell.
Stewardship pricing depends on which components you take and on your base report rate, so this is a short conversation rather than a checkout page. The rest of the product stays self-serve — your first released report is free either way.
